Tuesday/Thursday Run Sept. 11th
On Tuesday, I ran 4.5 miles and tried to keep my pace at 80%. It was a good run and early in the morning, which I love because of the stars and crisp air. My knee felt ok until the last mile and then was hurting a little. I stretched and iced hoping to speed the recovery.
I caught my little one's cold this week and feel pretty yucky. I'm run down and tired of my foot, lower leg and knee hurting. I'm icing my knee now and stretching whenever I get a chance. I decided to take today off from running and just let my body have a little more rest. I know, weak hua!
I'm gearing myself up for Saturday and was thinking about running from my house to Veterans Park and back. I don't have anyone to run with anyway and this would save me the drive. Google is showing my front door to the Veterans Park is just over 9 miles, so I think that would be a good way to do it. I can use the water stations at Glenwood and at Veterans, and then have my own water if needed!
I think I'll take some Ibuprofen for the next couple of days to get rid of the inflammation.
On a final note, the following video felt appropriate when reflecting back 7 years ago today, September 11th, 2001. Peace!

Saturday, September 6th
Well, I went out to run 20 and finished with 14. The good news is that my knee isn't as sore today as it was yesterday, and my legs feel pretty good considering. I took an ice bath and that seems to really help.
My Garmin showed I was running 9:37 minute miles. I'm hoping to get completely recovered this week and do at least 20 (I really want to do more) miles before I go into rest mode for Portland. I guess I'm really worried I'll bonk on Mile 20-24 and have a hard time finishing my goal! My body is grumpy, I'm over taxed with work and family, and I just want this one thing in my life to go well!
Ok. . . .I'm done whining, and ready to just suck it up and go for it!
Here I go!

Thursday, September 4th
Ok, so I took it easy thursday and ran 4 miles. I was having knee pain and just plain felt like poop! I'm not sure what my problem is, but I'm thinking a lot about the 20 miles I have to run tomorrow morning. I've iced my knee today twice, and I'm stretching too. So, I guess we'll see!
I'm going to try Cliff Blox's tomorrow during my run as well. I hope they will keep my stomach a little more settled.
I CAN DO THIS!

Payette Lake Run, Sun. August 31st, 2008
Whew, for the first time in my life I just finished 18.6 miles. RRR Barely . . . . but I finished thanks to Liz, Monica and Scott!
I felt really good up until mile 15 when I downed my second GU and by mile 16 was heading for the trees!
Looking over the race, I was averaging 9.5 minute miles. I walked the water stops and ran the whole way until mile 11. . . . that was a tough hill!
I will do that race again. I really loved the scenery and the fresh mountain air. I also loved the rain and the weather, it took my mind off the running. The shower felt really, really good today!
My goal is to find a good "pick me up" during the race that doesn't make a mess of my insides. I need to figure this out before the Portland Race.
Thanks to Liz for all her support today! Finishing the race with her by my side made all the difference!

This is cool!
Hi,
Saturday - I ran pretty well on Saturday morning. I really tried to pick up my pace for the mile repeats. I was doing around 8 minute miles according to my watch. I wasn't fatigued the rest of the day so life is good!
Tuesday - I couldn't meet with the gang so I ran early in the morning with my dog, Mocha. We ran for 45 minutes and covered 5.5 miles. I'm still having a stitch in my side and am working on my diet. For the Payette Lake Race, I've increased my protein and reduced my carbs until Thursday. I'll then switch it around a little to see if I can get some added energy.
Thursday - Again, I won't be able to meet with the group, so I plan to run at 90% for 3 miles (That's what the calendar says to do).
I'll be camping in McCall with my family starting Friday, and I'm looking forward to this race. I've heard it's awesome. My doctor, Dr. Christensen, says to watch out for Mile 11!
