This is cool!

Hi,

Saturday - I ran pretty well on Saturday morning. I really tried to pick up my pace for the mile repeats. I was doing around 8 minute miles according to my watch. I wasn't fatigued the rest of the day so life is good!

Tuesday - I couldn't meet with the gang so I ran early in the morning with my dog, Mocha. We ran for 45 minutes and covered 5.5 miles. I'm still having a stitch in my side and am working on my diet. For the Payette Lake Race, I've increased my protein and reduced my carbs until Thursday. I'll then switch it around a little to see if I can get some added energy.

Thursday - Again, I won't be able to meet with the group, so I plan to run at 90% for 3 miles (That's what the calendar says to do).

I'll be camping in McCall with my family starting Friday, and I'm looking forward to this race. I've heard it's awesome. My doctor, Dr. Christensen, says to watch out for Mile 11!

Great job, Melissa ! It sounds like the toast with jam worked out pretty well for you for a pre-run meal on Saturday ?

I would avoid the hard run on Thursday that the schedule calls for, that's too hard of an effort too close to race day.Take it relatively easy the rest of the week and hit the race with fresh legs.

If you can finish the 30K with a sub 9 minute pace average then you are well on your way to a sub 4 hour marathon. Good luck !

Great Saturday run Melissa! Yes, Dave is totally right. Since you are racing Sunday we are going to knock Thursdays workout down to a 3-5 miles easy. Sunday should be viewed much like your marathon, and in your taper, no tempos. Glad Mocha is keeping you company... the gang will never live up to the dog! My mom's dogs name is Mocha too! Funny thing is she always calls her Monica and she calls me Mocha!

Dr. Christensen is right...this is a fun race! There is a hill at mile 11 that will give us all character!

Hope to see you for spaghetti... we'll have enough for your whole family... feel free to stop by 602 Hemlock at 5:30ish!
